Tourism has potential to increase country's income: Pawar
Kolhapur, Dec 25 (UNI) Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today advocated that development of infrastructure for tourism was necessary not only in Maharashtra but across the country.
Speaking after declaring open the Kent Club Hill Resort at Sadale-Madhale villages of the district, about 18 km from the city, Mr Pawar, who is also the NCP chief, said this would help attract the tourists, including foreign, to enhance the country's income. In this context, the Central government's assistance was necessary, he said.
On globalisation, he said it would help enhance the nation's development. Therefore, its acceptance was inevitable whether one likes it or not.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, State Tourism Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil, Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) chairman mr Chaini were among other who spoke on the occasion.
Kent Club project poineer and chairman former state minister Digvijay Khanvilkar made a detailed presentation of the project.
State Finance Minister Jayant Patil, PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, School Education Minister Hassan Mushrif, Shrimant Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, Marathi daily 'Pudhari' editor Pratapsinh Jadhav were also present on the occasion.
