Security beefed up at Surat railway station
Surat, Dec 25 (UNI) Police have stepped up security at the railway station here to avoid any militant attack during the festival season rush.
Sources said security has been enhanced since yesterday following an intelligence warning that many metros, including Surat, need more security cover during the current festival season. At the railway station, around 100 security guards, including Railway Police Force (RPF) and Home Guards, have been deployed on patrolling duty. A dog squad has also been deployed for surveillance of main areas like station yard, reservation office and platforms, which are under tight security cover.
Metal detectors have been installed at the entrance points. Even the luggage of travellers is being checked by the security wing, sources added.
