Kashmiri fined for cheating Delhi businessman

Srinagar, Dec 25 (UNI) A local court in Jammu and Kashmir has fined a Kashmiri fruit grower of Rs two lakhs for cheating a Delhi businessman.

According to reports, a businessman from Delhi, Mohammad Israil Sidiqui of Azadpora, Delhi, has filed a case under section 138 of Negotiable instrument Act, in the court of District magistrate, Sopore, in north Kashmir against a local fruit grower Mohammad Akram Dar.

In his case, Sidiqui said Dar had promised to supply fruits to him on the rates agreed by both the parties.

He further said Dar failed to supply the agreed quantity of fruits, causing him great loss.

The District Magistrate Javeed Ahmad Geelani after hearing both the sides imposed a fine of Rs two lakh on Dar.

The Magistrate said the accused would have to undergo imprisonment for a period of three months in default of payment of fine.
