JD (S) national council meeting has no importance: Sindhia
Bangalore, Dec 25 (UNI) Former minister and rebel Janata Dal(secular) leader P G R Sindhia today termed the National Executive Council meeting of the party convened by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda at New Delhi as 'fruitless' and assumed no importance.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Sindhia, appointed as the new National JD (S) General Secretary led by Lok Sabha member Surendra Mohan recently said since Mr Deve Gowda was suspended by the party for distancing himself from the its policy and ideology, he has no power to convene such a meeting.
He also described the revocation of the suspension of H D Kumaraswamy and 38 legislators who were suspended earlier for having joined hands with BJP to form coalition government in the state was measure to save his son to continue as Chief Minister.
Mr Sindhia has said that the party's national president Surendra Mohan would revamp party's national executive shortly and tour various states to strengthen the rank and file of the party.
The party leaders would also approach the Election Commission and claim the party's name, flag and symbol he said.
The rival faction of the JD(S) led by Mr M P Veerendra Kumar and Party's ideologue Surendra Mohan who were opposed to join hands with BJP in Karnataka had taken stringent action against party's national president H D Deve Gowda who had approved the action of his son H D Kumaraswamy to form coalition government in Karnataka with the support of BJP Mr Gowda was placed under suspension and also removed him from the party. Senior party leader Surendra Mohan replaced him at the recently concluded JD (S) national council meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram.
