HC stays removal of MDMK office-bearers
Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) Madras High Court has stayed operation of an MDMK resolution seeking to remove Party Presidium Chairman L Ganesan and Deputy General Secretary Gingee N Ramachandran from their posts.
The interim order was passed late last night by Justice P Jyothimani in his house on a petition moved by an MDMK functionary.
Mr Ganesan and Mr Ramachandran were stripped of their posts following a resolution passed at the meeting of party district secretaries at Cumbum on Saturday. The meeting was chaired by party Treasurer M Kannappan.
The petition was filed by MDMK General Council member and Saidapet Divisional Secretary T Sampath, contending that the Cumbum meeting and subsequent resolution were illegal and against party by-laws.
The petitioner said as per party rules, only the presidium chairman was entitled to preside over district secretaries meeting.
The judge ordered notices to the MDMK, returnable by two weeks.
