Haryana agri deptt bans sale of two brands of pesticides
Chandigarh, Dec 25 (UNI) The Haryana Agriculture Department has banned the sale of Jalwa and Captain brands of pesticide made by Hans Crop Care Company and United India Pesticide Company in the state.
Giving further information today, Agriculture Director R K Khullar said during the visit of the Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha to Nissing village in Karnal district yesterday, the farmers complained their crops were damaged due to the use of above said brands of pesticides.
Taking immediate action on the instructions of the minister, a team of pesticides experts, led by Additional Director, Agriculture Department, B S Duggal, today visited Nissing, Rikshana and Brass villages of Karnal.
He said 60 acres of wheat fields had been found affected by of these brands of pesticides. Samples of the pesticides had been drawn for chemical examination. As an instant measure, all the Agriculture Deputy Directors had been directed to ensure the sale of both brands of pesticides was immediately stopped in the state, he added.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture minister has appealed to the farmers of the state to use pesticides of reputed companies and also to get bills from the sellers while buying any such product. He has also appealed to the farmers to use flat-fan nozzle for spraying pesticides as suggested by the Agriculture Department.
