Christmas celebrated with traditional gaiety in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 25 (UNI) Christmas, birthday of Jesus Christ, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional gaiety in Kerala today with devotees attending midnight masses at various churches acorss the state.
Churches were illuminated with stars and balloons across the state.
Archbishop Susa Pakiam led the midnight mass at the St Joseph's Cathedral in the city, while Mar Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil Major-Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, was the main celebrant at the St Mary's Basilica In Kochi.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Oommen Chandy greeted the people and wished Merry Christmas to Malayalees the world over.
