Advani as PM will be a disaster for India: Lalu

Varanasi, Dec 25 (UNI) Railway Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has said that any possibility of BJP leader L K Advani becoming the Prime Minister will be disastrous for the country.

''Advaniji kabhi pradhan mantri nahi ban sakte aur yadi bane to desh gart me chala jayega'' (Mr Advani can never become the Prime Minister and if at all he was elected to the PM's chair, it will be disastrous for the country,'' Mr Prasad maintained while interacting with mediapersons here last night.

''Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee has been the liberal face of the BJP, while Mr Advani is a sworn fundamentalist, whose ascedency to the PM's job will not be in the interests of a secular country,'' he added.

The RJD leader, taking a swipe at the BJP for raking up the Ram temple and Hindutva issue again, said they are doing so only to revive their electoral fortunes. But the public of the country will not be deceived by their deeds now.

''BJP ek kaath ki haandi hai jisme sirf ek baar bhojan pak sakta hai'' (BJP is like that vessel in which food can be prepared only once), Mr Prasad said, adding that BJP will never propel back to power by cooking up the Hindutva and Ayodhya issue again.

Continuing his diatribe against the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, he said that Uttar Pradesh can only return to prosperity when the electorate humiliates the present SP led regime during next year assembly polls.

Mr Prasad also appreciated young Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's active interest in UP politics saying that the Lok Sabha member from Amethi had matured politically.

He also said that RJD will continue its electoral tie-up with Congress in UP elections.

Earlier in the day, Mr Prasad alongwith his famiy offered prayers at the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple here and then flew to the shrine of Goddess Vindhyavasini in neighbouring Mirzapur district.
