YSR call to people on assigned lands
Hyderabad, Dec 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today called upon the people inform the local authorities about assigned lands which were encroached upon or purchased by the rich.
According to a press release here, Dr Reddy said people should bring such instances to the notice of government by writing a letter or through a phone call immediately.
Reiterating the government's commitment to distribute surplus lands to the poor as part of the land distribution programme launched by the Congress Government, the Chief Minister said people should take part in this initiative voluntarily without any political involvement.
Maintaining he had surrendered assigned lands to the government for the benefit of the poor even as the opposition parties made allegations against him, Dr Reddy said the government would take 'crucial decisions' on encroached assigned lands based on the recommendations made by a committee, on December 28.
