Allahabad, Dec 24 (UNI) The 1,000 Cu water released into Ganga from the Narora Dam day is expected to reach the river by tonight.
Talking to newspersons, the Ardh Kumbh Mela officer Pragyan Ram Mishra said here today that an additional 1000 Cu water released in Ganga yesterday would clean the water of the river and provide clean water for bathing for the devotees during the Ardh Kumbh starting from January 3 next year.
Mr Mishra said the process of releasing water would continue till the completion of the Mela on the Maha Shivratri, which is February 16, 2007.
He said the release of water in Ganga would not cause damage to the phontoon bridges and create erosion on the banks of the river as additional arrangements have been made.
When questioned about the fast of the mahant of Shri Panch Nirvani Akhada, Dharam Das in front of his office, he added that as per rule, land is alloted only to nine akharas. Land had already been provided to his akhara and he should take his share from there.
