PM has fallen prey to Sonia's politics : SP
Lucknow, Dec 24 (UNI) Hitting out at the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre, the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, today alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had fallen prey to the politics of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Addressing a press conference here, senior party leader Ahmed Hassan slammed the Prime Minister's statement on UP's need for a forward-looking leadership. "UP ranks better than the Congress-ruled states," Mr Hassan claimed.
Mr Hassan said Mr Manmohan Singh is dancing to the tunes of Ms Gandhi and thus, making " childish " statements.
"After Independence, Congress remained in power for a very long time but failed to bring any welfare schemes for the people. Now, when Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav is trying to turn UP into an 'Uttam Pradesh', Congress is criticising the development works as everything appears yellow to the jaundiced eye," he stated.
He alleged the Congress and the BJP are two sides of the same coin, both the parties are making efforts to shake pillars of the SP-led UP government but all their efforts would turn futile as people of the country have faith in the SP.
