Naxal terror forces bank closure
Jagdalpur, Dec 24 (UNI) Naxal terror has led to the decision to close a State Bank of India branch at Aawapalli in Chhattisgarh's south Bastar, official sources said.
A recent meeting of the Dantewada district-level advisory committee decided to close the branch and merge its officials with the Bijapur branch.
The official proposal noted that Rs 5 lakh were looted by the rebels while the amount was being conveyed to the branch from Bijapur three months back. There is a constant threat of unsocial elements attacking the treasury during transport.
