Chavan assures to take up Thane's cause with CM
Thane, Dec 24 (UNI) Union Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan today assured he would urge Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh to resolve the problems facing Thane city and district.
Lack of co-ordination between various agencies, including elected representatives, have caused various projects in the district to suffer, he admitted while speaking to reporters here today.
When Mr Chavan's attention was drawn to the fact that though Thane fell under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA), it still continued to remain neglected, he assured to take up the matter with the Chief Minister.
He said that no developmental projects were pending before the PMO for approval. All projects have been promptly cleared, he claimed.
Asked about the proposed sky bus project for Thane district, he said the state government and local bodies should pass resolutions in this regard and forward the same to the department concerned which would forward it to the PMO for approval. However, in the case of the sky bus project, no such steps have been followed, he pointed out.
Mr Chavan said it was the Centre's desire to ensure even growth in all the sectors. ''We want the infrastructure, industries and allied sectors grow equally,'' he said. The various Central schemes are directed towards achieving this objective, he said.
