All India Rajiv cadre demands security for Sonia

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) The All India Rajiv Gandhi cadre of the Congress today demanded that the Centre step up security for party president Sonia Gandhi following intelligence reports that she was on the hit list of a terror outfit.

At an emergency meeting here, the cadre decided to celebrate Christmas as 'Ekta Divas'.

Speaking at the meeting, the national president of the cadre O P Tripathi, its secretary Shashi Bala Kapoor and other office bearers expressed serious concern over reports of threat to Mrs Gandhi a few days before Christmas and urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil to ensure adequate security for Mrs Gandhi and her family.

Mr Tripathi also called upon the activists of the cadre across the country to observe a fast to pray for the long life of Mrs Gandhi.
