Yuletide grips on christmas eve

Kohima, Dec 23: With the closure of all state government offices in Nagaland from today, the yuletide spirit has gripped this Christian-dominated state on the eve of Christmas.

All the Churches in every nook and cranny of the state have been beautifully decorated with lightings.

Prayers would be offered by the people from Sunday midnight.

Morning and Evening Services have already started in the Churches since the beginning of this month.

Last month, the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) had appealed to the Nagas to pray for peace.

Every household, Christians and non-Christians, of the towns and villages have displayed Christmas stars. Shops had been well decorated to attract their customers.

All Government offices, including those of the Central Government and banks had been decorated with fairy lights but the ongoing power shortage in the entire North East is playing a spoilsport.

Despite cold in several towns like Pfutsero under Phek district and the state capital, young boys and girls were singing carols in the thoroughfares of the towns.

People were offering meat, Christmas cakes and other sweets, along with greetings cards, to relatives and friends.
