Two poachers caught for catching hare
Hoshiarpur, Dec 23 (UNI) Wild Life Department officials have nabbed two poachers while they were hunting common Indian hare in sugarcane fields at Sandra village near Nasrala in the district.
The duo-- Shingara Ram and Balwinder -- were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate first class today and were sent to judicial remand till January 6.
They, along with a dozen accomplices, were hunting the hare with their dogs last evening when the Department officials swooped on them. They were, however, able to nab the two while their accomplices escaped.
District Forest Officer (Wildlife) N S Randhawa told UNI that the poachers had been booked under section 3 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
He said that caracass of the hunted common Indian hare, one Tavera, one scooter and one cycle along with a bag had been seized from them.
