Two MPs misleading public to gain publicity: AIADMK leader
Puducherry, Dec 23 (UNI) AIADMK state secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today alleged that two parliament members from the Union Territory had misled the public to gain 'self-publicity' by their statements.
Talking to newspersons here, he said two days ago, an MP had stated that a direct train service would be operated between Puducherry and Mahe whereas the fact was that only two compartments would be attached to the Chennai-Coimbatore train at Villupuram and the train was extended to Mangalore via Mahe.
The time to reach Mahe would be more than that of bus travel and there was no advance reservation for the train. Moreover, Puducherry was not having quota for train ticket reservation to any major cities in the country and was still availing a part of the reservation meant for Chennai. Instead of concentrating on issues beneficial to the public, the two MPs were seeking self-publicity, he charged adding that they had not brought any extra funds from the Centre or any industrial units here.
On the JIPMER issue, he said AIADMK was for maintaining status-quo in the institution. The PMKs attempt to grant autonomy to the Central insitution and to bring it under its control was thwarted by several political parties, including AIADMK, CPI(M) and DPI and also by the employees, who stood steadfast on the issue, he added.
