Sonia pays tributes to Narsimha Rao on death ann

New Delhi, Dec 23: Congress President Sonia Gandhi today paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao on the occasion of his second death anniversary, describing him as "one of the most scholarly, erudite and distinguished political leaders of the post-independence era".

In a message, she said Mr Rao had left an indelible imprint in whichever post he had adorned - MLA, Minister, Chief Minister and finally Prime Minister.

"His contributions to giving a new direction and momentum to our economic growth are both profound and enduring." She said Mr Rao was a stalwart Congressman for over half a century. "I join his family, friends and well wishers in paying tribute to his personality and his numerous accomplishments."
