Pleasant weather greets people in UP

Lucknow, Dec 23 (UNI) Pleasant weather in Uttar Pradesh today provided respite to people reeling under cold conditions even as two more deaths were recorded in Mahoba district.

However, a slight dip in night temperature was witnessed in Kanpur, Faizabad, Lucknow and Bareilly divisions.

The temperature was recorded above normal in other divisions, the met office told UNI here.

Allahabad at 9 degrees Celsius was the coldest place in UP.

Meanwhile, fog enveloped UP for the second consecutive week, which the weatherman has attributed to the moisture from the Arabian sea.

Dense fog blanket during morning and night hours has reduced visibility, leading to delay of several trains and flights.

A report from Bulandshahr said six people were injured in a road accident on Bulandshahr-Delhi highway today, where due to thick fog, a car driver could not see a truck coming from the opposite direction.

In a similar incident, two persons were injured after they were hit by a truck in Khurja in the early hours.

Meanwhile, the toll due to cold climbed to 12 in Mahoba district, following the death of two farmers in the last 24 hours.
