Photo Electoral Rolls in TN by March next: CEC

Chennai, Dec 23 (UNI) The Photo Electoral Rolls of Tamil Nadu would be ready by March/April next, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalasamy said today.

Talking to newspersons, after an hour long discussion with Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta at the VIP lounge of airport here, Mr Gopalasamy said 80 per cent of the Photo Electoral Rolls in Tamil Nadu had been completed.

He said Mr Gupta had been asked to expedite the remaining work and complete it soon.

The Election Commission was making all arrangements for holding Assembly elections in four states and the dates would be announced at an appropriate time, he said.

Mr Gupta said though the preparation of Photo Electoral Rolls got delayed in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Tuticorin, Sivaganga, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts, efforts were on to complete the job by March/April next year.
