Khajuraho be made no-fly zone: ASI

Bhopal, Dec 23: The Culture and Tourism Ministry has urged the Civil Aviation department to ensure that aircraft are not permitted to fly over the ancient temples at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh for the safety of the world heritage site.

Culture Ministry Additional Secretary and Archaeological Survey of India Director General C Babu Rajiv wrote a letter to the Director General of Civil Aviation in this regard recently pointing out that the ancient monuments experience vibration as the Indian aircraft fly over it.

He pointed out that the Airports Authority of India had also been approached with a request to change the flight route, but positive response was till awaited.

The Khajuraho temples, famous for its sculptures, attract tourists from abroad and different parts of the country.
