It is Hindutva for BJP again; Dec 6 a proud day, claims Kalyan

Lucknow, Dec 23 (UNI) The BJP today turned again to its time tested formula of raking up the Ayodhya issue in the run up to crucial Assembly election in key states with senior party leader and chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh claiming December 6, 1992 was a ''proud day'' for him as ''it had liberated the society from its slavish past''.

Speaking on the political resolution condemning the ''vote-bank'' politics pursued by the UPA Government, Mr Singh who was dismissed as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister following the demolition of the disputed structure at Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid seconded the resolution in a fiery speech against the ''ills of politics of appeasement''.

''It (the policy of appeasement) should be countered with Jwalamukhi (volcanic Hindutva) which will burn away all ills dogging the society,'' he said at the party's national council meet here.

Mr Singh called for a ''direct attack'' against terrorism, governments alleged soft attitude towards internal security and Islamisation and criminalisation of politics. ''Awareness about the Hindutva identity and cultural nationalism should be spread in every nook and cranny of the country as it is the the only way to counter the undesirable trend in the national politics.

''Casteism is a poisonous system practiced by parties like Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in UP. We have to liberate the state from their clutches,'' he said.

About the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, Mr Singh said though it was better if the way for the temple would be cleared through discussions with the parties on the issue or through a judicial verdict, he did not feel that was ''possible''.

''For us Ram Mandir is the pran tatva (soul) of Hindutva. Once Hindutva caught up, it will burn all unfair practices of the UPA parties,'' the senior BJP leader, who was convicted by the Supreme Court for his involvement in the vexed issue, said.

The former UP Chief Minister also said it was the responsibility of the BJP to maintain social harmony by ensuring welfare and justice to all communities to end the ills dogging the system.

''We have to ensure an equitable, self sustaining society liberating the people from all kinds of exploitations. If we can do this the party can have a smooth ride to power at the Centre and UP,'' he said.
