Don't harass kin of accused, DGP tells police
Chandigarh, Dec 23 (UNI) Haryana DGP Ranjiv Dalal has called upon the police to adopt a public-friendly approach and refrain from harassing the relatives of the accused.
''Police Officers should find out the reality of the crime instead of arresting the kith and kin of culprits. They trace the reasons of the crime committed by the criminals in order to provide speedy justice to the affected families,'' Mr Dalal said while addressing a gathering of Senior Police Officers at Madhuban.
He exorted the police to be friendly with the general public and try to mitigate their sufferings as far as possible.
Mr Dalal stressed that there was a need to build an organisational character among the police personnel. ''The time has come for the police to prove its credibility in the society.'' He stressed that police should serve the masses as their humble servants and the mention of the police should not evoke fear among the people.
