Cultural meet to cement Assam-Arunachal bonds
Itanagar, Dec 23 (UNI) A two-day Assam - Arunachal cultural meet is being hosted by Chapakhowa sub-divisional officer of Assam at Sadiya in Assam from January seven to cement the neighbourly relationship and foster the spirit of fellow feeling, understanding and mutual trust among the people of both the states.
The decision was taken in a joint meeting held under the Chairmanship of Lohit district deputy commissioner P S Lokhande with the sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Chapakhowa and other heads of departments of the district, according to official sources.
Recalling various helps of the SDO, including sending doctors and medicines to tackle malaria menace and solving fuel crisis at Tezu, Lokhande said that such good will meet first of its kind would further strengthen the age-old relations between the two states since the period of Ahom rule.
'' Many petty hitches and hiccups can be sorted out through mutual understanding and trust,'' the SDO said and appealed his counterpart at Tezu and Roing to participate in the meet with enthusiasm to expose ethnic food, dances, drama and various other facets of tribal culture, sources added.
