M'shtra: Cotton worth Rs 1.25 cr gutted in fire

Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Dec 23: Cotton valued at around Rs 1.25 crore was gutted in a major fire that broke out at the Shubham Ginning Mill at Shiur village in Vaijapur tehsil of this district today.

Police sources told sources that the fire broke out in the mill at around 1200 hrs. Seven fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control within a few hours.

The fire tenders from neighbouring towns such as Manmad, Kopargaon, and Karmad, besides Aurangabd, were rushed to the site, the police sources said.

About 7,500 quintals of cotton, purchased from farmers and stored at the mill, were gutted in the fire, they said. The cotton was worth around Rs 1.25 crore. The cause of the fire was not yet known, the police sources said.
