Congress leader attacked in Hoshangabad
Hoshangabad, MP, Dec 23 (UNI) More than three dozen armed people lobbed hand grenades on the house of a local Congress leader and fired gunshots last night, police said today.
However, no one was hurt in the incident.
During the attack on Itarsi Congress President Jaspal Singh Bhatia's house, the assailants ransacked vehicles at Punjabi Mohalla area.
Four people were arrested in the connection with the attack, while a case was registered against about three dozen people, including one bookie Shankar Mitani's son Sandeep.
Sandeep had tried to crush Mr Bhatia's younger brother Ravindrapal Singh under his jeep last evening. However, the matter was calmed down.
Later, the culprits attacked Mr Bhatia's house at 2300 hrs last night.
Adequate police force were deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Pachauri condemned the incident and demanded action against the guilty.
