Congress demands Assembly panel probe into DMAT scandal
Bhopal, Dec 23 (UNI) The opposition Congress today demanded that the alleged scandal in admission to private medical and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh should be inquired into by a committee of the Assembly and Health Minister Ajay Bishnoi should tender his resignation.
Leader of the opposition in the Assembly Jamuna Devi said the BJP government was in the dock due to various irregularities in the admissions based on the Dental Medical Admission Test(DMAT). She had already given a notice for breach of privilege after Mr Bishnoi sent a letter to Speaker Ishwardas Rohani on the controversial issue.
''Sending a letter to the Speaker for his comments within the house and making it public through the media amounted to breach of the parliamentary norms and traditions'', Ms Jamuna Devi said, adding now the matter had become a public issue with the BJP leaders themselves indulging in trading allegations and counter allegations.
She alleged that the Health Minister was amassing wealth by misusing his position and through corrupt methods. He had forgotten parliamentary norms and basic courtesy, she added.
Irregularities in DMAT were debated in the Assembly and the Speaker also referred to corruption in admissions.
