BSF nominates five nodal officers in Tripura
Agartala, Dec 23 (UNI) Tripura frontier force BSF has nominated five nodal officers in the state for gate management and redressing any problem regarding opening of gate by villagers in bordering areas of Bangladesh.
According to a release of the border guards all field units of the BSF have been asked to accommodate the request of villagers residing within the International Border and border fence to open the required fencing gate for social functions, marraiges and other purposes.
The villagers, including the farmers, are facing great problems due to gate management and so to meet emergency situation, including evacuation of patients, the gate keys are kept with BSF personnel on duty.
The gates are opened for a long time during harvesting and sowing season to facilitate the farmers and villagers to carry out necessary works without any hindrance due to fence gate.
Tripura is having 856 kms international border with Bangladesh and 736 border fencing had been sanctioned. So far a total of 622 kms of such border fencing had been constructed and a number of stretches remained unfenced due to various objections either from Bangladesh Rifles or villagers residing in the border areas of the state.
A number of houses, paddy fields of Indian nationals fell ahead of fencing and border gates have been made all along the fencing to pave way for the people for their movement.
