Both Haj flights from Srinagar cancelled today

Srinagar, Dec 23 (UNI) Both the Haj fligts scheduled to carry pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir to Jeddah have been cancelled today.

The state Haj committee office here said that the flights have been cancelled due to some techinical reasons.

The hajis, who were scheduled to travel to Jeddah in these flights have been asked to wait for next announcement from the haj office.

Meanwhile, the Haj pilgrims from Srinagar district who have not yet proceeded to Jeddah but have received passports and other travel documents, have been directed to report to Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar office to get themselves registered for departure.

So far, 10,674 pilgrims from the state have left for Jeddah A total of 10179 pilgrims from the state are scheduled to undertake the pilgrimage this year.

Official records reaching here said that five pilgrims from Jammu and Kahmir, including the brother of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, have so far died in holy cities of Mecca and Madina.

Sixty-four hajis from different Indian cities have also died during this year's pilgrimage so far.

About 1,10,000 pilgrims from India are schedule to undertake the pilgrimage this year.
