BJP to give more emphasis to NE region
Lucknow, Dec 23 (UNI) The BJP today outlined a policy to give more attention to North-Eastern states, which were facing intricate problems.
''It is necessary to pay more attention to this region and give it an appropriate place in the mainstream of national development by strenghening the nationalist ideology,'' BJP President Rajnath Singh said in his presidential address at the National Council said.
Describing the NE states as ''unique' geographically as well as culturally, he said the Congress regime's in the past had failed to understand their problems in the right perspective. ''Due to this, these states are facing problems,'' he said.
Expressing satisfaction over having a BJP government in Nagaland and being the main opposition party in Arunchal Pradesh, Mr Singh that the fact they had a coalition government in predominantly- Christian Nagaland should be ''an eye opener for those calling''.
