BJP dares Congress, SP to re-build Babri Masjid at Ramjanambhoomi

Lucknow, Dec 23 (UNI) In the run-up to the assembly polls in three northern states, the Bharatiya Janata Party today reverted to its Hindutva agenda--building of a grand Ram Temple, abrogation of Article 370 and common civil code -- while daring the Congress and Samajwadi Party to re-build the 'Babri Masjid' at the disputed site at Ayodhya.

Setting the tone for the party's two-day national council, BJP President Rajnath Singh also tried to rubbish the raging controversy on the issue of the party's prime ministerial candidate, declaring that both former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani were the party's twin-mascots.

''We are proud of the fact that the two of the tallest leaders of the country, Mr Vajpayee and Mr Advani, are with us,'' he said.

In a tough message to party workers Mr Singh warned them that indiscipline would not be tolerated and the BJP would strive hard to regain its image of a ''party with a difference''.

Adhering to the Ram Temple agenda, the BJP President said the party was committed to building a grand temple at Ayodhya and scrapping of Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir and enactment of a Common Civil Code.

Mr Singh took a sharp dig at the UPA Government for pursuing the Muslim appeasement policy, inking of the Indo-US nuclear deal and spiralling prices of essential commodities.

He expressed grave concern on the security scenario and said the situation was deteriorating because of the government's soft approach towards terrorism, like dithering on the execution of the death sentence awarded to December 13, 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
