Bajrang Dal burns effigies of Ravi Shastri
Indore, Dec 23: Effigies of former cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri were burnt by local Bajrang Dal activists at various places for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of Hindus by reportedly eating beef during the India-South Africa test match in Johannesburg.
Local Bajrang Dal leader Manoj Malpani said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had been urged through the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association to terminate all the contracts of Ravi Shastri.
Mr Malpani had moved an application seeking registration of case against the former cricketer.
In the complaint, it was stated that a television channel had reported about beef eating by Ravi Shastri.
Meanwhile, Gau Seva Bharti's Rajesh Bijwe said Ravi had insulted Hindutva and propagated eating beef. He said opposition against him would continue until he sought an apology.
