ASI national conference from Dec 28
Kochi, Dec 23 (UNI) The 54th National Conference of the Anatomical Society of India (ASI), the biggest professional body of anatomists, will be held at the Amritha School of Medicine here from December 28 to 30.
Announcing this at a press conference, principal of the Amritha School of Medicine Dr Vasudevan said about 1,000 faculty members from all medical colleges of India and a few from abroad will attend the meeting.
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan will inaugurate the conference. The President of the Medical Council of India P C Kesavankutty will deliver the keynote address.
Head of the Anatomy Department Dr Krishanamma said it was after 25 years that Kerala would be hosting the national conference of the ASI, which meets every year to discuss the latest research in the field and innovations in teaching methodologies.
About 500 scientific papers would be presented in addition to about 150 poster presentations.
Stem cell research, anomalies of the heart and their surgical correction and surgeries related to the liver would be among the key areas of discussion at the meeting, Dr Gopinathan, Professor, Anatomy, said.
