VHP activist attempt to attack Kumbh Mela officer

Allahabad, Dec 22 (UNI) The office of the Ardh Kumbh Mela officer was ransacked by a mob of VHP activists and an attempt was made to manhandle the officer after talks of land allotment in the area failed.

Mela officer Pragyan Ram Mishra was, however, saved due to the intervention of some mediapersons present at the place.

On receiving the information, police reached the spot and chased the mob of VHP activists away. The Mela area was sealed and an FIR has been lodged against the seven accused.

The indefinite fast by Akhil Bhartiya Khatdarshan Akhada Parishad President Shri Mahant Dharam Das continued on the second day today.

The mahant has alleged the Mela administration is adopting partial attitude by not allotting land to him.

Meanwhile, the Mela administration said the land has already been allotted to the mahant's akhara and he should take his share from there.
