Toshkhana shifted temporarily: Govt

Jammu, Dec 22 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today said the shifting of invaluable monuments, 58-year old items of historic importance and manuscripts from Toshkhana Mubarakh Mandi to a strong room in new secretariat Jammu is a temporary feature.

Minister for Roads and Buildings Gulchain Singh Charak, while taliking to mediapersons at Toshkhana Mubarak Mandi, said the shifting is aimed to place the historic and valuable treasure into a safe custody till suitable and permanent arrangements are made at the Mubarak Mandi heritage complex.

He said the invaluables can not be left without proper care and protection.

The minister said government will ensure to restrict wreckage and rusting of old items particularly weapons deposited in Toshkhana.

''Foolproof security arrangement have been made to ensure protection of toshkhana items, the minister added.
