Three die due to mad dog's bite

Indore, Dec 222 (UNI) Three people, including a woman and a child, have died due to hydrophobia after being bitten by a mad dog in Chandan Nagar area of this district, official sources said today.

Sunita (32), her father Kaniyhalal and one Rohit (7) died yesterday. Tension prevailed in the area after the incident.

Three others were said to be suffering from the disease.

The district administration announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5,000 each to the victims' family members.

On receiving information, a team of doctors went to the area and obtained information from every house. About 450 houses were surveyed and information of diseases from dog's bite disseminated.

Sources said a mad dog had bitten some people recently. Later, the dog died but no one paid attention. Some people got normal tetanus vaccination.

About 65 people were admitted to hospital and administered anti-rabies serum vaccination. They were asked to take rest dose of vaccination.

The administration directed the municipal corporation to start a campaign to catch stray dogs and pigs.
