Hyderabad, Dec 22 (UNI) TDP members present in the House were suspended for a day on the last day of the winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for obstructing proceedings today.

Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu was not present at the time.

When the House wanted to take up the debate on an issue raised under rule 304 on Margadarshi Financiers, a finance company owned by a media baron, the TDP wanted the House to first debate the drought situation and power shortage.

When the government did not accept this demand, TDP members rushed into the well of the House and raised slogans, disrupting the proceedings of the House.

Intervening, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy suggested it be voted on to decide which issue should come up first.

Questioning why the opposition was afraid of participating in the debate on Margadarshi Financiers, Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that the TDP was trying to please the newspaper baron by not being present in the House during the debate on Margadarsi on the last day of the session.
