Shell Global Solutions enters contract with Centre

Mumbai, Dec 22: Shell Global Solutions (GS) today signed a contract with the Centre for High Technology (CHT), India with the aim to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of four major Indian refineries.

The four identified refineries under the Indian Public Sector Oil Group are the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Mathura Refinery), Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Manali Refinery), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Visakh Refinery), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Kochi Refinery).

The contract, which is a three-year integrated business improvement program, was awarded, following a two-year benchmarking review on all Indian public sector refineries.

In a statement here today, Shell Global Solutions Vice President marketing&consultancy Wayne Hutchinson, said ''We are very pleased with this development as our main objective is to assist refineries in India to extract the maximum value from their assets and natural resources with minimum impact to its environment and people.

The initiative with CHT is also very much in line with Shell Global Solutions' ''grow east'' strategy, which focuses on meeting the rapidely growing energy demands in Asia through technology and innovation; providing personalized service to customers and tapping on Asian talent to meet this demand,'' ''Globally, there is a clear need to implement practical and effective measures to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and minimize harmful emissions.
