Jalandhar, Dec 22 (UNI) Punjab Police today defeated Corps of Signals 2-1 in the 9th Romesh Chander Memorial Hockey Tournament while Sher-e-Jalandhar beat Border Security Force 4-2.

In other league match played at the Burlton Park Surjit Hockey Stadium here today, Punjab and Sindh Bank also earned full 3 points by defeating Rail Coach Factory(RCF) Kapurthala 3-1.

The Sher Jalandhar team today displayed good team work and coordination and carved out several spectacular moves which gifted them three fine field goals.

While the first goal was scored by Sher-e-Jalandhar's Olympian Gagan Ajit Singh in the fifth minute, Tejbir Singh and Harbhajan Singh also struck in 25th and 30th minutes to score two more goals for the team. In the meantime, BSF also made made a move in 13th minute which was culminated in goal by Ranjit Singh.

In the second half, BSF earned a penalty corner in 40th minute which was converted into goal by Raj Singh (2-3). In the dying moments Sher-e-Jalandhar also got a penalty corner on which Olympian Baljit Dhillon made no mistake in sounding the board (4-2).

Punjab Police today had easy going against Corps of Signals.

The police squad established lead in the 8th minute with flawless goal by Gagandeep Singh which was consolidated by Satvinder Singh in 48th minute through a penalty corner conversion.

In the meantime Signal's men made several attempts to score but they could not hit the target. It was only in the 66th minute when Signal's NS Salaria opened the team score(1-2).

Punjab and Sindh Bank, which drew their match with Sher-e-Jalandhar yesterday, today recorded their maiden victory in the tournament defeating RCF by 3-1. Daler Singh scored two goals while one was scored by Mandeep Singh. Lone goal for RCF was scored by Roop Singh.

Punjab Police and Sher-e-Jalandhar are now all set to clash in the final on Sunday.

Although the league round is yet to conclude tomorrow Punjab Police with full 12 points in four outings and Sher-e-Jalandhar with 10 points in three wins and one draw has emerged much ahead of the rest of the teams.
