Pashmina shawls push up sales of khadi fair in Jammu
Jammu, Dec 22 (UNI) The exhibition-cum-sale of khadi and gramodyog products here in the city has registered sale of Rs 7.3 lakh in the first three days with world famous pashmina shawls in the fair becoming a centre of attraction for shoppers, including pilgrims.
To popularise and give fillip to the local industries, the Jammu and Kashmir khadi and village industries board (KVIB) on December 19 inaugurated a month long exhibition of products made by various small scale industries/ngos across the state.
KVIB secretary R C Sharma said the world-famous pashmina shawls, Kashmiri embroidery and chikri wood items were attracting a large number of people, including pilgrims visiting the city of temples.
Besides these, honey, ready-made garments, basmati rice, mustard oil, chakki atta, gabbas, namdas, chain stitch rugs and decoupauz's ornamental pots were also being purchased.
