Panic in Baramulla after firing, one killed

Baramulla, Dec 22 (UNI) Panic gripped the main chowk near here when unidentified gunmen opened fire this afternoon, while militants shot dead one person in north Kashmir.

Official sources said gunmen opended fire at main chowk this afternoon shortly after the Friday prayers were over in the mosques.

People ran for safety and security forces present in the area took positions behind the walls, an eyewitness told UNI.

He said traffic came to halt and the streets wore a deserted look after the incident.

Further details are awaited, official sources added.

Meanwhile, militants shot at and wounded one Abdul Hamid Bhat at Ajas, Bandipora in this district last night. Bhat, a surrendered militant, was rushed to hospital where he died, sources added.
