Opposition stages walk out

Ranchi, Dec 22 (UNI) Opposition NDA partners in the Jharkhand Assembly today staged a walkout after the adjournement motion demand of BJP legislator Saryu Rai was turned down by the Speaker over agitation of engineers over alleged misbehaviour of Water Resources department secretary with them.

The engineers of different departments had gone on mass casual leave against the alleged use of filthy language by Water Resources department secretary Mahavir Prasad for the departmental engineers.

The matter was raised by C P Singh of BJP immediately after the house assembled for the day. However, the chair asked Mr Singh to take up the issue after the conclusion of question hour, saying adjournment motion of Saryu Rai was under consideration in this regard.

Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda said all the developmental projets came to a halt due to agitation of the engineers.

Mr Munda said the engineers were harrassed by a senior departmental officer and all this was done under the patronage of concerned minister.

Girinath Singh (RJD) said departmental secretary be called and inquired about the matter.

Mr Singh demanded a clarification from the government over the agitation.

Prakash Ram (RJD) said agitation of engineers was a part of conspiracy.

Later on the matter was raised by Saryu Rai for adjournment motion but was turned down by the speaker.
