One dead in hotel fire in Kullu

Kullu, Dec 22 (UNI) One person was burnt alive and another seriously injured in a devastating fire that broke out in a hotel room in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh yesterday, police sources today said.

The incident occurred in Shobla International hotel at Dhalpur in the district at about 0245 hrs, while the two people were sleeping.

The sources said the dead person has been identified as Priyagold's sales manager Purshotam Julaka, a resident of Amritsar in Punjab, while the injured has been identified as his assistant Varun Chopra.

Three hotel rooms were completely damaged, while four adjoining rooms were partially damaged in the fire, which began from the room where Parshotam and Varun were sleeping, the sources said.

The sources said Priyagold Julaka's body was handed over to his relatives after the post mortem examination, adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
