Mercury drops to 3.2 deg C in Pachmarhi
Bhopal, Dec 22 (UNI) Intense cold gripped Madhya Pradesh's picturesque tourist spot Pachmarhi with mercury plunging to 3.2 degree Celsius even as western part of the state continued to reel under severe wintry conditions.
However, southern, central and eastern part of the state got a respite from biting cold following rise in temperatures.
Mercury dropped to seven deg C in Khandwa and to eight deg C in Indore and Ujjain, while a temperature of 9.6 Deg C was recorded in Gwalior, 10.3 deg C in Khajuraho, 11.5 deg C in Sheopurkala, 11.8 deg C in Jabalpur, 13 deg C in Hoshangabad and Sagar each.
Meteorological department director D P Dubey said western disturbances, moisture and eastern winds led to a rise in temperature. Cold conditions was likely to increase in a day or two.
The state capital experienced cold conditions with a minimum temperature of 12 deg C -- more than normal temperature -- being recorded.
