Mercury drops in MP
Bhopal, Dec 22 (UNI) Intense cold gripped Madhya Pradesh's picturesque tourist spot Pachmarhi with mercury plunging to 3.2 degrees Celsius even as western part of the state continued to reel under severe wintry conditions.
However, southern, central and eastern part of the state got a respite from biting cold following rise in temperatures.
Mercury dropped to seven degrees in Khandwa and to eight degrees in Indore and Ujjain, while 9.6 degrees was recorded in Gwalior, 10.3 in Khajuraho, 11.5 in Sheopurkala, 11.8 in Jabalpur, 13 in Hoshangabad and Sagar each.
Meteorological department director D P Dubey said western disturbances, moisture and eastern winds led to a rise in the temperature. Cold conditions was likely to intensify in a day or two.
The state capital experienced cold conditions with a minimum temperature of 12 degrees -- more than the normal temperature -- being recorded.
