Manipur bandh evokes partial response
Imphal, Dec 22: A 48-hour bandh called by the candidates of fourth and fifth Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), which began at 0600 hours yesterday evoked little response.
All inter-state passenger buses however, operated normally.
Most of the educational establishments were closed in the main market of Imphal. The oil depots kept their shutters down, while banks functioned as usual.
Police said there was no untoward incident so far.
The IRB candidates were demanding announcement of the results of the examinations held earlier. Most organisations had appealed to the candidates to call off the strike considering the Christmas festival.
