Jharkhand Assembly adjourned sine die

Ranchi, Dec 22 (UNI) After finishing business of the five-day Winter Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, Speaker Alamgir Alam today adjourned the House sine die.

The winter session began on December 18.

During the second half of the concluding day, the house passed Jharkhand Municipality (Amendment) Bill 2006 and Ranchi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2006 whereas Jharkhand State Ownership bill, 2006 was rejected.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda, while delivering his concluding speech, said the state government believed in overall development of the state with special focus on agriculture and industrial sector.

Mr Koda said the main aim of the state government was to bring 54 per cent people, who were living below the poverty line, into the main stream of the society.

Referring to a Human Resource Development Minister's reply, Mr Koda said dearness allowances would be given to Sanskrit school and Madarsa teachers within fifteen days.

Criticising the erstwhile NDA goverment for not implementing the National Rural Employment Scheme properly, Mr Koda said government would check corruption and middlemen from the scheme.

Accusing the opposition of adopting ''escapist attitude'', Mr Koda said the Opposition staged walk-out whenever there was any discussion on important issues.

Speaker Alamgir Alam said many important works were disposed-off during winter session despite having short span of time.

Earlier, in the first half, leader of opposition Arjun Munda raised the issue of two analyser, which were stolen from Rajrappa area, and asked the government to take cognizance in the matter, adding that the nuclear equipment had gone missing from December 4.

Mr Munda said both analysers were brought by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and its radiation could affect about 1.5 kilometer area.

During zero hour, suspended BJP MLA Ravindra Rai raised the issue of allocating coal block to Acta Coal Mines by Tenughat Vidyut Nigam.

Referring to a Jharkhand High Court verdict, Mr Rai about 76 per cent share were allocated to the company, which was against the rules and regulations, and demanded inquiry over the matter.

Girinath Singh (RJD) also demanded inquiry over the matter from an assembly's committee.

Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi said the government would look into the matter beore any decision is taken, However, the opposition was dissatisfied with the government's stand following which the Speaker announced to get the matter inquired by an assembly committee.
