International meet on environmental management

Puducherry, Dec 22 (UNI) The department of Chemical Engineering and civl engineering of the Puducherry Engineering college and the Puducherry regional centre of Indian institute of chemical engineers will organise a three-day international conference on 'cleaner technologies and enviornmental Management'' from January 4.

Adressing a press conference here yesterday Prof S Sundaramurty, organsing secretary of the conference said several central organisations, including the Central Pollution Control Board and the ministry of enviornment and forests have come forward to sponsor the conference.

The conference will focus on preventive enviornmental management in the context of enviornmental governance and the resolutions adopted in the conference would be forwarded to the Central Pollution Control Board, he added.

Chief minister N.Rangasamy will inagurate the conference, he said.

He said as many as 154 research papers received from universities in USA, France, Iran, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Trinidad would be presented in 12 technical sessions in the first two days of the conference.

Eminent personalities like Dr B Sengupta, Member Secretary, Central Pollution Control Board and Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, Gujarat cleaner production centre besides Dr. Huu-Hao NGO from Australia, Prof Albert Bosch from Spain would address the conference.

About 150 delegates from accademic and research organisations and around 100 from industries and enviornmental regulatory authorities will also attend the meet, Mr Sunderamurty said.
