IndiGo takes delivery of 6th Airbus A320 aircraft

Toulouse (France), Dec 22: Low cost airline IndiGo today took delivery of its sixth brand new Airbus A320 aircraft which will operate daily on Kolkata-Mumbai and Kolkata-Jaipur routes from January 5, 2007.

''Within a span of five months of launching revenue operations, we have taken delivery of our sixth aircraft,'' said airline's president and CEO Bruce Ashby. ''We believe IndiGo has brought new low fare travel alternatives for its customers.'' The airline will take delivery of an additional nine A320 aircraft next year, taking the fleet size to 15 by year-end.

The no frills airline serves Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Imphal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Vadodara with its first six aircraft. IndiGo proposes to serve about 30 cities by 2010 with a fleet of 40 A320s.
