HC directs LU to start re-allotment of hostels from Jan 3

Lucknow, Dec 22 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench Of the Allahabad High Court today directed the Lucknow University (LU) authorities to conduct back paper exams from January 3 and re-allot hostels only to those students against whom no criminal and diciplinary action is going on.

The Bench comprising Justices Pradeep Kant and V D Chaturvedi passed the order on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by an advocate Jayant Singh Tomar for maintenance of peace and order in LU campus.

The HC instructed the LU authorities to complete the diciplinary action against students at the earliest and said that it would later ponder about re-alloting the hostels to these students.

The Court directed the University authorities to get an affidavit from the students stating that there is no criminal and diciplinary action going against them.

The Bench asked the LU authorities to complete the renovation works inside the hostels by January 7.

The Court further directed the Uttar Pradesh government to take necessary steps required to maintain law and order situation inside the LU campus.

The Court has fixed January 8 for the next hearing.
